CHAPTER ELEVEN

Walker

“Kiss me, Walker.” Evelyn’s lust-filled voice is music to my ears.

I’ve been waiting for this for so long that I give myself just a few more seconds before my fantasy becomes reality. And then I slam my lips down on hers and drown in her mouth, showing her another way, besides alcohol, to forget the bullshit of life.

“Evelyn!” I shout, but when I turn back around to look at her, she’s gone. “Evelyn! Where the fuck did you go?”

“Walker!” she calls out, but I can’t tell where her voice is coming from. The flames grow ten feet tall, and the smoke gets so bad I can barely see.

But then a figure comes out of the chaos, and suddenly, I’m face-to-face with my best friend.

He’s here. What the fuck is he doing here?

“You’ve got to save them, Walker,” John says to me, standing stoically still. The fire doesn’t even touch him, but I can still see it all around us.

“Where did they go, man?”

“You have to save them, Walker. I couldn’t do it. But you can.”

“John!” He disappears right in front of me, and then I hear a loud crash, the same one that happened the night he died.

And then I wake up.
